Proceeding highlights

The theme of the conference was “Harnessing ICT for Education Transformation”. In light of the new K+12 Curriculum and Higher Education Strategic Plan, the conference sought to engage the participants to further advance their knowledge on the latest developments in the effective use of ICT in education to help raise standards of education as embodied in the Philippine Education Reform Agenda. The conference had two tracks: (1) for university/school policymakers and administrators and (2) for university faculty, pre-service and in-service teachers. The conference featured plenary presentations, panel discussions on specific ICT4E topics as enumerated below, ICT trainings, exhibits and technology demonstrations.

The conference also made a call for best practices on ICT4E for four categories/levels: higher education institutions, elementary, high school and community. Supported by Globe Telecom, Metrobank Foundation, Power Mac Center, and Pru Life UK, each of the four winners received plaques and cash awards of PhP10,00 (USD240.00) for each winner per level. No winner was selected for the elementary level. The winners for the other three categories were:


Higher Education Institution (2 winners)

Mariano Marcos State University - College of Teacher Education received the best practice award for their project “Life with Technology”, for fostering long-term partnerships with different groups to implement innovative ICT in Education practices and for effective integration of ICT in Teacher Education at the pre-service and in-service levels.

The College of Education of the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology won the best practice award for fostering long-term partnerships with different groups to implement innovative ICT in Education practices and for effective integration of ICT in Teacher Education at the pre-service and in-service levels through their project entitled “ICT Integration in Education”.

Secondary/High School Category:

Mr. Roberto R. Binag of Davao City National High School, received a best practice award for implementing a socially-relevant program with international and inter-disciplinary collaboration that made appropriate and effective use of ICT integration in Education under the project entitled TAO Project: Telecollaborative Learning Across the Curriculum.

Community:

Ms. Genevieve G. Kulong of Zamboanga City High School won the best practice award for ICT in pedagogy towards community development for her project entitled “Local Farming: A Documentary (Digital Diplomat)”.
